Performance of Philippine Service Sector

Contribution to GDP
The Philippine economy is considered a service economy, with a contribution to GDP higher than 51 percent.




Value
It is envisioned that the sector will continue to grow in the coming years.  The growth for the contact center alone for this year is projected at around 50% to 70%, with an anticipated revenue level of US$ 3 billion in 2008.







Growth
Services trade has overtaken trade in goods in economic importance. Aside from percentage contribution to GDP, the sector is also growing at a rate double that of goods trade.

Employment Contribution
As expected, Services still accounted for a large of employment, this time followed by Agriculture.
